McGee teve a chance de se tornar campeão dos pesos pesados do UFC em 2003 em um luta que perdeu ainda no primeiro round para Tim Sylvia, que logo após a luta caiu no teste antidopping. Mcgee não foi valorizado pelo UFC que nem considerou colocá-lo para uma disputa do título interino ou algo parecido. "Sylvia é um excelente atleta, ele me venceu muito bem....Os esteróides fizeram diferença? As pessoas tem suas teorias, mas pra mim o que mais doeu foi o fato de que eu sacrifiquei simplismente tudo que eu tinha para alcançar o meu sonho de ser um campeão do mundo, e aí não consegui. E quando ficou claro que o UFC não iria me considerar para uma segunda chance pela disputa do título meu mundo desabou. Senti como se uma parte de mim simplismente tivesse morrido" disse Gan McGee. McGee retorna no Xtreme Fighting Championships (XFC)’s na Flórida e disse mais: "Meu instinto assassino está de volta - e pode acreditar - nunca esteve tão mortífero". Fonte: MMAWeekly Following a 4 year absence from the sport, former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight contender, Gan McGee, is set to return to action on Sept. 13 at the XFC event being held in Tampa, Fla against Jonathan Ivey.McGee hit the pinnacle of his career in 2003 when he got the chance to fight for the UFC heavyweight title against Tim Sylvia. He lost in the first round, and following that fight he lost the desire to focus on fighting. After the fight concluded, Sylvia tested positive for steroids and while the now former UFC champion did admit the usage, neither the promotion or athletic commission decided to strip him of the win or the title, and McGee took a crushing :blink: to his career. “Tim Sylvia is a great fighter and the video tape doesn’t lie, he beat the hell out of me,†remarked McGee from his San Luis Obispo training camp. “Did the steroids make a difference? Different people have different theories, I guess. But for me, what hurt the most was sacrificing absolutely everything I had to finally achieve my dream of becoming a world champion, and then falling short. And when it became clear that UFC wasn’t going to consider me for a second title shot, my entire world collapsed. I felt like a part of me had just died. It was beyond devastating.â€McGee then traveled to Japan to fight for the Pride Fighting Championships where he dropped two straight fights before leaving the sport of MMA all together. Now focused and back in training, McGee is ready to once again throw his hat in the ring and work his way back up the heavyweight ladder. “My killer instinct is back, and trust me – it’s never been deadlier,†said McGee.His opponent, Jonathan Ivey, is an experienced fighter in his own right having fought a number of tough opponents in his career and he’s looking forward to welcoming McGee back to the sport.“Everyone likes to run their mouth – right until they’re smashed in the face with a fist or knee,†Ivey stated. “McGee should’ve stayed retired.â€McGee and Ivey will do battle in Xtreme Fighting Championships (XFC)’s “Salute to Our Armed Forces V†at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Fla on Sept 13. Abidula 0 Postado July 30, 2008 Deu sorte ao vencer o Rizzo, pela comemoração e a cara de espanto dele, nem ele esperava vencer o brasileiro. Na luta dele contra o Café a envergadura fez a diferença e para complicar a situação o Café não sabia trocar e todos golpes que recebia do grandalão Gan McGee andava para trais, ai é fatal.
