T.J. GRANT VS. JULIO PAULINO

Round 1 - A few jabs early. Lots of dancing 30 seconds in. Grant throws a leg kick, but 45 seconds in, the boo birds ain't happy. Grant throws some knees from the clinch, and Paulino desperately tries to defend. Grant maintains the hold and then drags his opponent to his knees with the front head lock. Grant looks to take his back. Grant softens him up with some head punches, and the fighters drift to north-south position. Grant stays on top as Paulino remains kneeling. The pace slows, and the Indy fans want some action. Grant's just being patient and methodical, though. Paulino grabs a leg, and Grant pops him with a couple punches. The awkward positing eventually results in Grant in the seated position, but he escapes, takes his opponent's back, rolls over, and looks for the rear-naked choke. Grant doesn't tighten a body lock and has a loose guard, and Paulino is defending well against the choke. Paulino nearly rolls over, Grant finally secures the body triangle, but Paulino fights his way through and takes top position. Grant wraps him up in guard, and the fans applaud the effort. Grant, though, powers his way free and takes his opponent's back again. Paulino is face first into the mat, but Grant's guard is high. However, he gets in his hooks, but Paulino scrambles to his feet before the round ends. It's a strategic first round that MMAjunkie.com scores 10-9 for Grant on overall control.

Dunham é um cara que eu boto muita fé, acho que ele será um grande nome da categoria ainda.

E sobre o Hunt é o que eu falo desde o auge (sic) dele no Pride, o cara é muito limitado, não queria que ele vencesse, pois sei que deve ter uns 50 melhores que ele e que merecem oportunidades.

Round 2 - Paulino works his jab from distance. However, Grant checks his body kick and shoves him into the mat. Grant pulls his legs out from under him, and Paulino clings to a guillotine as he falls to his back. It's loose, and Grant uses the opportunity to move into side control. He breaks free of the choke, and Grant moves into north-south position, which draws some uncomfortable groans from our male attendees. Grant returns to side control, and when he again tries north-south, Paulino escapes to his feet. Grant, though, shoots and quickly takes him back down. Paulino again tries the guillotine choke, but it allows Grant to move into half guard. Paulino tries to escape, but Grant pins him down, and the crowd becomes a bit restless. Grant moves into side control, but Paulino reverses and takes top position. Grant ignores the advice from the drunken idiot sitting behind me to "punch him more." But when Grant gets to his feet, Paulino does, in fact, "punch him more." Grant, though, quickly drags him back to the mat, moves into mount position, flattens out his opponent, and delivers punches to the midsection. Paulino pulls him close to keep him from posturing up, but Grant grabs an armbar before the round ends. He doesn't have the position or the time, but MMAjunkie.com gives Grant the round anyway, 10-9.

Round 3 - A touch of gloves gets the final round underway. Paulino swings for body shots, checks a kick, and trips Grant to the mat. He waits for him to stand back up. Paulino tests his hands, but Grant shoots. Paulino defends, delivers a punch from the clinch, but Grant drags him to his knees and takes his back. Paulino tries to roll to keep him on his side and uses the cage to aid him. Grant remains glued to him, but Paulino does, in fact, escape. Grant quickly corrals him, uses a front headlock, drags him to his knees again, and then rolls him over and works from top position. The pace slows as Grant catches a breather from top position. However, he hops to his feet and throws punches to his downed opponent. Paulino deflects, and Grant returns to half guard. Grant looks to move to mount but settles for side control. Little action as Grant works on position rather than damage. Grant nearly gets mount, but Paulino nearly escapes and gets caught in a scissor hold. Grant turns it into a triangle choke. Paulino escapes, though, and takes top position. Nice sequence there. Paulino postures up and delivers some punches. Grant tries to power his way out and nearly sweeps his opponent, but Paulino delivers punches to the midsection. Grant works through it and reverses the position to move into side control before the round ends. It's another round for Grant, 10-9, for what should be a 30-27 win. Not the flashiest win, but he got the job done.
