Caio Monstro vs Buddy Roberts no UFC on FX 3

A middleweight bout between Buddy Roberts (11-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Caio Magalhaes (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is in the works for June's UFC on FX 3 event.

Sources close to the event today confirmed the planned matchup with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajnkie.com).

As MMAjunkie.com reported earlier today, UFC on FX 3 takes place June 8, though a host city and venue have not been finalized.

The night's main card airs on FX, and FUEL TV is expected to carry prelims. It's not clear where Roberts vs. Magalhaes will end up on the lineup.

Both fighters recently had their UFC debuts scratched.

Roberts, a five-year pro, was slated to fight at UFC on FUEL TV 1 against Sean Loeffler, who was a day-of-the-event scratch due to a rolled ankle. Most recently, Roberts, a Team Jackson-Winkeljohn fighter, earned a unanimous-decision victory over KOTC champ Tony Lopez at Jackson's MMA Series 5. Roberts, who's fought at heavyweight and light heavyweight, has four knockouts and five submissions in 11 career wins.

Magalhaes, meanwhile, was slated to fight Fabio Maldonado, who eventually was forced off January's UFC 142 card with an injury. Now booked a second time for his first UFC fight, Magalhaes, a Nova Uniao fighter, looks to continue his early-career success. The two-year pro most recently fought on Dec. 2 at Shooto Brazil 27, where he earned a split-decision victory over Ismael de Jesus (5-2-1 at the time), who had won four straight fights until that point.

O brasileiro Caio Monstro Magalhães (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) estreará no UFC contra o também estreante Buddy Roberts (11-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC), atleta da Jackson's Mixed Martial Arts, no UFC on FX 3.

Não conheço o Roberts. Só sei que lutava como pesado, baixou pros meio pesados e fará sua estréia como médio. É um cara alto e terá uma vantagem enorme na envergadura. Tem 4 vitórias por nocaute e 5 por finalização, treinando na Jackson's MMA e com esse cartel, imagino que se trate de um lutador well-rounded.

Pelo pouco que conheço do Caio, me parece ser um bom lutador. Ainda tem deficiências em pé, não se sente tão confortável trocando, apesar de ter punch. Mas derruba bem e tem um bom chão.

Ou seja, imagino que o Caio deva procurar trabalhar seu chão e o Roberts tentar manter a luta em pé.

Roberts é bom lutador, é da Jacksons MMA, e usa bem o mata-leão, e vem de vitoria sobre Tony Lopez. Mas não acredito que va para o chão com o Caio.
